City approves Computec IT agreement and adds accounting services contract

Council approved a Computec agreement with a modification: the city will accept one on-site SCADA computer (instead of two) as a means to maintain necessary redundancy while controlling costs. The motion carried by roll call after staff and council members discussed overlapping services with Les Olsen and possible cost savings from consolidating services.

Council also approved contracting David Sanderson to provide accounting and data-preparation services intended to reduce the city’s final audit costs and provide more organized financial records. Council discussed that the contracted accounting support will be an added expense on top of the annual audit but should shorten or simplify the auditor’s work. One council member summarized the purpose: “Gives us the option to have specific services that we are currently denied... so that we can start these processes so we can have a better idea of what our budget looks like,” (Mayor Robert Jenkins).
