The special meeting convened to permit council members to interview four applicants for the City Administrator position using a standardized Candidate Appraisal Form that listed 10 questions and allowed ratings from "outstanding" to "inadequate." HR Generalist Prince distributed each applicant's full application packet and a two-page 'Do's and Don'ts of Interviews' guide before the session. Council members completed appraisal forms and the City Clerk collected them for tallying.
City Clerk Lane Gamiotea reported the tabulation: Denise Whitehead was ranked No. 1 on all five forms; Douglas Baber was ranked No. 2 on three forms and Mark Schneider was ranked No. 2 on one form; one council member (Noel A. Chandler) did not submit a No. 2 selection. After the tallies were announced the council selected Whitehead to be offered the position, and instructed the City Attorney to begin contract negotiations.
