Calvin described the truck's maintenance history and the high cost of repeated repairs on the existing vehicle and explained the bid comparisons: "The lowest price, the 70. And then I'd like another 6 for outfitting for additional," Calvin said when describing the recommended purchase and outfitting needs. He told the board the truck being replaced is a 2015 model with costly recurring repairs and that bids came in lower than the prior $94,000 budgeted amount.
Board members discussed the fleet schedule and noted last year's plan to replace the truck had been postponed by a fiscal-year scheduling change; a member moved to approve purchase from O'Connor Motor and allocate $76,000 to the 2026 GMC Sierra 3500 acquisition and outfitting. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The manager and staff will proceed with procurement steps consistent with the town's purchasing policy and will flag any change orders or equipment shortfalls to the board when they arise.
