County approves $893,000 ARPA construction award for Southwest Counseling home project

Sweetwater County commissioners approved the award of ARPA grant-funded work for the Southwest Counseling Home Project to Shepherd Construction Solutions for $893,000.
Public Works Director Gene Ligurski explained the project—the third of four county-supported Southwest Counseling efforts—had originally come in over budget. He said the county worked with SLIB and the contractor to remove some exterior concrete items that did not affect the grant's intent so the project could fit the available funds. "We called SLIB and said, hey ... Is there a way if we cut some of the project out without taking the intent of the grant down?" Ligurski said, describing the negotiations.
One commissioner noted the contract documents listed a $958,000 figure while the award recorded $893,000; Ligurski said the Dedeck (contract administrator) will issue a change order right away to reduce the listed amount. The board moved to award the ARPA contract to Shepherd Construction Solutions for $893,000 and authorized the chair to sign; the motion was recorded as moved by Commissioner Jones, seconded by Commissioner Richards, and unanimous.
The county will proceed with contract execution and required reporting under the ARPA grant terms.
