A motion by Councilman Hitchcock, seconded by Councilman Turman, approved the Jan. 6 consent calendar, which included: minutes of the Dec. 16, 2025 regular meeting; payroll from Dec. 12, 2025 totaling $397,284.06; and claims across multiple city funds totaling $1,712,328.30.
The consent calendar also included Resolution No. 26-01 authorizing a sign lease with Bradley Petersen for placement of a billboard along Highway 20 (west of Chadron) to advertise Carhenge at a rate of $825.00 per year. Interim City Manager Shoemaker and City Treasurer Baker confirmed the expenditures reviewed are within budgeted appropriations to date.
The roll call vote was unanimous: Hitchcock, Yates, Turman, Mashburn and McGhehey voted aye; none voted nay. The council noted any consent calendar item can be pulled for separate consideration by a single council member if requested in future meetings.
