The City Council approved Resolution No. 25-162 to purchase a Vactor 2100I sewer jet vacuum truck from MacQueen Equipment for $655,922.35 (GL #07-52-58-59-950). Staff explained the existing 2014 unit will be retained as a backup and repurposed for storm-sewer cleaning, which the city now contracts out at an annual cost estimated between $50,000 and $100,000.
Public Works Director Grant described annual jetting of the sanitary sewer system as an important preventative service to avoid costly backups and service interruptions. The council voted unanimously to authorize the purchase and a $6,000 GL transfer to cover the slightly higher quoted price than budgeted.
