Lianne Prentice, a Select Board member, told the board the Master Plan has not been updated since 2008 and, by statute, should be updated every 10 years; she said the Master Plan “is the vision of the town” and argued the update would guide departments, committees and future capital planning. The Planning Board has $5,600 encumbered from 2025 to apply to the contract; Prentice said approximately $17,400 would need to be taken from this year’s budget, though the approved motion spreads funding and leaves any remaining need to be addressed in December. Opponents on the board expressed concern about timing and use of contingency funds, with Emery Roberts urging budgeting next year rather than reallocation mid‑year.
The action authorizes staff to finalize the LRPC contract under the funding approach approved by the board and to report back on remaining funding needs in December.
