South Irving Street community garden praised as inclusive partnership

Providers told the committee that a recently launched community garden on South Irving Street has become a site for inclusive activities and local partnerships.
Josue of Stomping Ground/OSG described the project as a collaboration with Gillian Place and Circle that helps residents mix with the surrounding neighborhood. “It’s just a great collab because we have, you know, adults from our community at Gillian Place going over … and helping with the garden and also, you know, interacting with the folks at South Irving,” he said, noting the garden’s role in social connection and upcoming events including a dinner club (June 16) and a music happy hour on June 28.
Other vendors and providers affirmed the garden’s success and discussed additional community-integration programming such as therapeutic recreation swim groups and monthly gatherings. Committee leaders said they will include pictures and links in the minutes and encouraged ongoing vendor reports so the board can track inclusive community efforts.
