Veterans groups present U.S. flag flown over Capitol to Klamath County

Ron Johnson, commander of VFW Post 1383 and a member of the Klamath County Veterans Advisory Council, presented a United States flag to the county commissioners and said it had been flown over the U.S. Capitol at the request of Senator Ron Wyden to commemorate the Independence Day parade and the 250th anniversary of the nation. Johnson thanked the county for its endorsement and involvement in the parade.
A presenter explained the certificate of authenticity that will accompany the flag to verify it was flown over the Capitol. A Marine Corps League representative thanked the commissioners for preserving county military history and artifacts and said the gesture was about saving the community's history beyond a single service branch. The presentation concluded with board appreciation and brief remarks of thanks from veterans' representatives.
