Summary

Chairman Slater described HB 2177 as a package of authorizer communication, transparency and accountability changes for public charter schools. The bill requires authorizers to annually notify each authorized public charter school of its renewal status and to publish that status in the authorizing report, and it permits automatic 10-year reauthorization for qualifying high-performing schools that meet multi-year performance, growth and financial benchmarks.
