Summary

On behalf of the chief administrative manager (Lina Johnson as stated in the meeting materials), staff sought approval to hire a DDA 2 at step 5 and to offer a $10,000 hiring bonus.
Staff explained the department recently lost a DDA 3 position that was budgeted at step 7, leaving budgetary room for a hiring bonus. The staff member noted the departing DDA 3 carried roughly 830 active cases and the new DDA 2 would take on felony and misdemeanor work to rebalance caseloads. The hiring bonus is conditioned on a 24‑month retention requirement; if the new hire leaves before 24 months they must repay the bonus.
A motion to approve the hire and bonus was moved, seconded and approved by the board. Staff indicated no relocation expenses for this candidate and said the bonus aligns with previous internal hiring bonus levels. The board directed staff to proceed with the hire under the approved terms.
