LCB forms Administrative Support Team to centralize chemists, analysts and training/evidence functions

Captain Josh Bolander told the board the Administrative Support Team was formed in April to concentrate technical units—examiners/analysts, chemists, and the training unit that houses evidence—so operational captains can spend more time in the field. "This team was formed in April, so it's brand new," Bolander said.
He described the chemist team as a three-person unit that analyzes lab reports for unauthorized pesticides, heavy metals and residual solvents; the examiners as a four-analyst data forensics team supporting traceability and recall work; and a training unit (three staff) that also manages the evidence warehouse and instructor cadre. Bolander said the units increase consistency and confidence in investigations and allow deeper, more technical support for officers in the field.
Board members asked how this reorg will change day-to-day operations; presenters said captains will be able to return to field supervision while the centralized units provide specialized analytical and training support.
