Lexington council adopts 2026 appropriations, approves administrative spending authority and holiday pay
Summary
At its Dec. 15 meeting the Lexington Village Council adopted two budget ordinances including permanent appropriations for 2026, authorized the administrative director to approve up to $5,000 in 2025 fund-line adjustments, and approved four hours of paid time off for employees on Christmas Eve.
The Lexington Village Council adopted Ordinance No. 25-35, setting permanent appropriations for operating expenditures for 2026, and passed Ordinance No. 25-36 carrying budget amendments for Dec. 15, 2025.
Council action also included a motion authorizing the Administrative Director to authorize up to $5,000 in across-fund line adjustments for the 2025 fiscal year through Dec. 31, 2025, with a report back to council at its Jan. 5, 2026 meeting. The council additionally approved an extra four hours of paid time off for all village employees on Christmas Eve. All motions noted in the meeting record passed by unanimous roll-call votes (7–0).
“Motion by LITTLE to adopt,” appears in the meeting record as council formalized the ordinances; Mayor Bob Jarvis also thanked Administrative Director Peter Them, saying, “Thank you Peter Them for the excellent job done.”
The meeting minutes list each roll-call outcome and record that routine business (minutes approval, adjournment time setting, and holiday pay) passed without opposition. The council adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
