The Planning Commission recommended July 20 that 2420 West 13th Street be rezoned from an R-3 dwelling district to a B-2 Highway Commercial district to allow Roberts & Sons Plumbing to locate its operations at the property. Planning staff said the building is currently unoccupied and unkempt and that rezoning would allow the applicant to rehabilitate the site.
"As stated by the applicant, they're currently in the process of restoring an unoccupied, unkempt property, and we'll be adding an additional industry to that to a commercial neighborhood," Judy, planning staff, said. "Planning staff has no objections to the rezoning." Commissioners noted surrounding parcels are largely high-intensity commercial and praised the property rehabilitation.
The commission closed the public hearing, moved to recommend approval and approved the recommendation. Staff told the commission this item will be placed on the City Council agenda on August 4 for final action.
