Planning Commission recommends vacating 10-foot utility easement at 302 West 3rd Street

The City of North Platte Planning Commission voted July 20 to recommend vacating a 10-foot-wide utility easement on Lot 1 of the Garrison Subdivision, located at 302 West 3rd Street. Planning staff told the commission the utilities are not located within the easement and the new owner seeks the vacancy to permit an accessory structure.
"The utility easement was put in place when Garrison Subdivision was created to allow utility access for both lots," said Judy, planning staff. "Planning staff has no objection to the vacation of the utility easement as shown on the attached plat." Commissioners asked staff to confirm that utilities remain accessible from the alley and that Lot 2 retains its easement for access to the water line.
Committee member Van Velsen moved to recommend vacating the easement; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the recommendation. The action is a recommendation to City Council; no final change to the title or plat occurs until council action.
