Sequoyah Board approves 2026–27 calendar, adopts policies and confirms three hires

The Sequoyah Board of Education convened on Jan. 12, 2026, in the Conference Room and recorded the presence of President Jake Dowty, Vice‑President Greg Perry, Gary Armstrong, Jeff Radley and Brian Green. The board approved the minutes from Dec. 8, 2025, and passed several consent items before taking votes on calendar, policies and personnel.
On key business the board approved Option 2 for the 2026–2027 school calendar on a motion by Jeff Radley (seconded by Gary Armstrong), adopted three school policies identified as CKDA, CO and CO‑R on a motion by Jeff Radley (seconded by Greg Perry), and approved three personnel hires: Sara Schultz (Child Nutrition Staff Member), Delaina Jones (Elementary Tier II Paraprofessional) and Jaylynn Shaw (Middle School Special Education Teacher, temporary contract). Each of those motions passed with unanimous recorded votes. Superintendent Dr. Terry M. Saul provided updates on construction work at district facilities. The meeting adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
