Cowlitz County commissioners announced schedule changes and said they are stepping up outreach to state and federal agencies about river issues.
The Tuesday, Aug. 4 meeting at 1:30 p.m. was canceled. The board noted upcoming events including a Board of Health meeting on Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. and a Department of Ecology presentation on Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. The Moderator said the county has been "pushing the Department of Ecology, the Corps, anybody who we can" to advance work on dredging and flood mitigation.
The county said the geomorphic assessment request is one of the early steps intended to spur action by the Corps and the Department of Ecology on river maintenance and dredging.
