The Mississippi House adopted the conference report for a projects bill that funds a series of state capital and infrastructure projects across the state.
Representative (Tate) explained Senate Bill 2189 to members, saying the bill provides $75,000,000 for IHL universities, $40,000,000 for community colleges under the standard formula and $30,000,000 for acquisition and construction of state buildings. He told members a full handout of projects would be distributed and noted a few typographical errors would be corrected by unanimous consent.
Members heard the sponsor call the bill "robust" and were directed to review project lists online. Following the explanation the chamber adopted the conference report by a recorded vote of 118 ayes, 0 nays.
The sponsor also described local project insertions and asked for members’ patience for staff corrections; several members later offered unanimous-consent adjustments to line items, including an insertion for Greenwood Cemetery Association and a reduction to an Itawamba item paired with a local addition.
