Supervisor Geoffrey Beers summarized comments received from residents opposing data centers, suggested reviewing an Allegheny County ordinance example, and noted the Lancaster County site analysis (May 2026) did not identify potential sites in West Lampeter. Board members discussed moratoria other municipalities have used to buy time for ordinance development and asked staff to gather municipal ordinance examples and draft options for how the Township might alter its zoning approach or consider a standalone ordinance.
Staff were directed to prepare the research and bring the issue back to a future meeting. No moratorium or ordinance was adopted at the July 13 meeting.
