Marion board approves consent agenda, sets Aug. 11 meeting and readies schools for start of year

At its July 28 meeting the Marion board approved the consent agenda, accepted donations totaling $88,146.79 to date, and approved a set of measures to prepare staffing and device protection ahead of the new school year; the next meeting is scheduled for August 11.
The Marion Community Schools Board of Education opened its July 28 meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, handled the consent agenda (items 26-169 through 26-178) and adopted routine business items by unanimous roll call.
Board members approved the consent agenda, accepted multiple alumni donations and set plans for the start of school. Superintendent Lockwood encouraged staff and teachers who worked over the summer and said she is excited for the coming year. Trustees thanked volunteers and organizers for successful fundraising events and noted the next board meeting will be Aug. 11.
No members of the public spoke during the public-comment portion of the meeting and there were no contested votes recorded; trustees acted unanimously on presented actions.
