Capt. Alexandria Nicol of the Fort Knox Veterinary Clinic outlined services and timelines relevant to owners preparing to PCS or host animals at installation events. "You do not need to have orders in order for us to start preparing the paperwork for your pets to PCS with you, and the lead time on that can be 4 to 6 months," she said, stressing early contact for OCONUS moves.
Nicol also explained rabies program management and recommended seeking medical care first for exposures, then notifying proper authorities; she said the clinic focuses on reuniting microchipped pets with owners and discourages residents from bringing strays to the clinic for long‑term housing because of limited resources.
