Resident presses Select Board for right-of-way maps near Stamford Elementary School

David Salvo, who identified himself as a town representative on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the conservation committee and the planning commission, asked the board to provide a right-of-way plan for the segment in front of Stamford Elementary School. "Can you please provide the ROW plan for Stamford Vermont 100 in front of the Stamford Elementary School?" he said.
Salvo displayed a state map and said a yellow line and a blue line on the map showed different ROW boundaries; he asserted the ROW "doesn't start at the highway. It starts in the school parking lot" and warned the board that the town sign might already sit in the state right-of-way. He asked staff for a general outline of the process, an estimated timeline and potential costs if the town sought to formally acquire a portion of the ROW. The chair directed Salvo to bring the materials to the planning board for formal review so the select board could consider next steps after that review.
