Facilities staff described recent alarms and diagnostics on the courthouse chiller and recommended replacing the 30‑gallon pressure tank with an 84‑gallon ASME unit; a Trane bid including piping and glycol handling was presented at approximately $6,344.
The presenter explained previous system work (chiller overhaul) and said the increase in system volume after adding ice tanks and other work meant the original 30‑gallon tank was undersized. "Right now, we have a 30 gallon pressure tank, and they are advising with the size of our system ... an 84 gallon tank," the facilities presenter explained. The board moved, seconded and approved the procurement; supervisors recorded 'Aye' votes in favor.
Staff said the work will include removing and replacing glycol, piping work and site handling, and that the ASME specification added cost but suits the building system and code requirements.
