What Exeter will (and will not) accept at the new foam drop-off

Exeter officials urged residents to check foam type before bringing material to the transfer station: only clean, rigid Styrofoam typically marked with a number 6 (for example, meat trays and food-service products) is acceptable. Sustainability planner Kristen Murphy warned that not every item labeled "foam" is recyclable and that the town cannot accept flexible foam, packing peanuts, or pipe insulation.
The town is limiting use of the densifier to Exeter residents while it pursues permits for regional service. Residents who do not live in Exeter were asked to store materials at home until regional permitting is resolved. The drop-off location for acceptable materials is the transfer station at 9 Cross Road, where a bin is designated for densifier-bound foam.
