The Orleans Veterans Park supporting 501(c)(3) told the committee it is shifting fundraising away from brick-by-brick sales toward targeted campaigns aimed at families, individual donors and companies to close the remaining gap for two monuments.
The group's representative (referred to in the meeting as 'Bridal') said research is underway to locate family contacts and that the nonprofit will use local events, restaurants and the farmers market to raise awareness and donations. The representative said roughly "240 names" will be inscribed across the two new monuments, and members agreed to replenish waterproof brochure boxes in the park and distribute printed materials to accommodate visitors who prefer paper over QR codes.
Chair Higgins suggested partnering with local restaurants for veterans nights and noted the police department recently ordered 500 shirts for $1,800 as a model for event merchandise; members agreed the nonprofit should return with a fundraising timeline and specific asks at a future meeting.
