Committee reviews bronze proof for Korean War memorial plaque

The Orleans Veterans Committee reviewed a mock-up of the Korean War memorial plaque and discussed adjustments to imagery and layout ahead of final proofs.
Chair Kevin Higgins described the proposed plaque as a full-bronze relief with Marines depicted in the center and branch-of-service images around the edge; he said the black areas in the mock-up would instead be bronze and that the design firm will provide alternate proofs for the committee to choose from. Committee members noted the angle of the memorial's top will depend on the number of names to be engraved and Higgins said the designer will provide name layout proofs to determine that angle.
Higgins reported there are 97 names for the Korean War memorial at present and that the committee will receive several proofs and request modifications before final selection. No final approval was taken at this meeting; members asked for proofs and a layout showing final dimensions before making a final design choice.
