Committee members discussed outreach steps ahead of an October planting event: a request form for residents to choose their preferred species, postcard and poster distribution, and announcements in the Saybrook events magazine and chamber meetings. Mike Canter, a committee member, offered to knock on doors in his neighborhood and encouraged recipients to "pick a tree. We'll put it in the ground," a line the committee agreed to use in outreach. The committee also clarified that SOS (the separate free-tree program) requires residents to register online with SOS, while town-planted right-of-way trees use a separate form to assign species and planting location.
