Review by the Barry Eaton District Health Department, Charlotte Fire Department, Carmel Township and the Eaton County Road Commission produced no objections; staff noted the building official requires sealed design drawings prepared by a licensed design professional for the proposed 80-by-96-foot building. The application referenced an existing conditional-use history for a home business (CU-6-21-3).
An applicant present to speak (introduced in the staff report as Ben and Carol Yotze) confirmed the sign height would be 8 feet or shorter and that product would be sold bagged with no on-site grinding. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about tools/workwear and accepted staff's assessment that the proposed use fits the agricultural-business definition in the zoning ordinance.
