County staff told commissioners that hazardous-materials testing for the Madison Valley Manor kitchen will begin this week as part of pre-construction work. "We're beginning hazardous materials testing this week," a staff member said.
Staff said they plan to place the contract for Jackson as construction manager on the next Tuesday agenda for approval and are awaiting USDA Rural Development to confirm any required language. "We were well, we still are waiting for rural development from USDA to get back on whether there was a specific language that they wanted to include it," the staff member said.
On technical systems, staff said they have not found sufficient information on the existing exhaust hood and anticipate replacing it; because gas-line changes will be required, a new certification for equipment will be needed. "We were gonna have to have a new certification for everything because the gas line changes anyways," staff said, and added that those costs had already been included in the budget.
Staff asked the commissioners to approve placement of the construction-manager contract on the upcoming agenda to allow the project to proceed once rural-development language is finalized.
