Resident raises safety and notice concerns after utility contractors access yards; city manager says staff will follow up

During visitor comments Deborah (Deb) Rettman of 201 Hilltop Drive told council that contractors laying cable entered private yards without leaving door hangers, left gates open and created safety issues for pets. She said a contractor "from Florida" told residents they had been notified but she had not received any notice and that neighbors were frustrated.
City manager (speaker 12) responded that contractors may have permits that cover a larger area and that the city requires permits and nominal fees; staff will contact providers (Frontier/Verizon identified) when residents report damages or lack of notification. "We do try to work with them and they have been relatively receptive when we do contact them with issues," the manager said. She also said the city had in some cases asked that a contractor not be permitted back if problems recurred.
