City included in NBCC gas aggregation extension; residents to receive opt-out letters

City Manager Elaine Whitman told council the NBCC natural-gas aggregation committee adopted a resolution accepting Clayton into the program and extended the contract to April 2028 at a fixed rate.
Whitman said the extension maintains a fixed rate of "0.6625 cents per CCF" and that residents will receive letters in late August with the option to opt out; she said the program will go into effect in November for participating customers. "Residents will receive a letter in late August with this information and the option to opt out if they would like," Whitman said.
No voter or council action on contracting terms was recorded beyond the manager's update; staff indicated the city is participating through the NBCC aggregation committee and that customers will be able to opt out individually when they receive the notice.
