The Missouri City Planning & Zoning Commission voted to adopt amendments to its rules of procedure that retain the public comment section while removing a 10-minute time cap for speakers and adding a sentence that newly elected officers will assume their roles at the next meeting after election.
Staff told commissioners this was the second reading of the amendment and explained the change removes the 10-minute limit to better align with City Council practice and state requirements. "The version of the draft in front of you retains the public comment section pretty much as is," staff said during the presentation, noting the only substantive addition was the timing language for officers to start at the following meeting. After discussion about the precise wording to add to Section 102, a motion to approve the changes—incorporating the sentence that newly elected officers would take effect at the next meeting—was moved, seconded and carried.
