Council ratified emergency removal services performed by C and B Materials of Texas LLC at the Backdoor Reservoir at the Water Purification Plant, approving payment of $356,250. Utilities staff described the work as the first full cleanout of the reservoir in 14 years and linked the accelerated work to turbidity events earlier in the year.
Carl (speaker 18) explained that cleaning removed soils and solids and that, after the project, the reservoir can be taken down every two years for inspection and cleaning, which staff said will reduce turbidity issues that previously triggered public notices. "For the first time in 14 years that's 15,000,000 gallons of that reservoir we can have full of water without any solids in it," Carl said. Council thanked staff and approved the ratification unanimously.
