Lee's Select Board voted on July 27 to adopt a consolidated $300 flat fee to replace the current conservation commission schedule of a $105 posting fee plus a $100 application/office-review fee. Land-use staff told the board the consolidated fee reflects recent higher costs for newspaper postings and certified mailings and will simplify public information on the town website.
"I'm asking that the select board up the fees to just 300 flat," the land-use representative said, adding that recent postings have averaged just above $300 over the last six months and that making the fee $300 should prevent budget overages for required legal notices. Board members discussed how certified mailing of abutter notices and the cost of newspaper display ads factor into the town's posting costs. A motion to adopt the $300 consolidated fee and to update the fee posting on the website passed unanimously.
Staff said they will return to the board if extraordinary cases create postage or third-party review costs beyond what the $300 fee covers.
