At the July 27 meeting the Select Board approved appointing the town's land-use staff (the land-use agent and conservation agent/land-use assistant) as Lee's local government representative under the Department of Energy Resources' (DOER) consolidated energy permitting guidance, which the planning representative said is scheduled to start Oct. 1.
A planning-board representative who drafted the supporting letter explained the appointment would allow land-use staff to accept and process permit applications on day one and avoid waiting for board meeting cycles. "This is gonna start October 1," the representative said, noting the planning board would sign the letter and the staff would provide a signed copy if required. A board member moved to appoint the land-use personnel; the motion passed unanimously.
Board members asked that staff keep the Select Board informed when siting requests and permit applications are filed so the board remains in the loop. The appointment is intended to streamline municipal review under the new consolidated process while preserving notification to relevant boards.
