The Planning Commission approved an extension of time for The Rooted School's special use permit for a property at 2401 East Tonopah Avenue.
Staff said the school received building permits for Phase 1 and a certificate of occupancy but had not opened. Nancy Amundson, representing the applicant, told the commission the building — converted from a 1960 church — underwent interior renovations and that the applicant would seek reclassification of an adjacent parcel if enrollment exceeded 240 students to meet parking requirements.
Amundson said the applicant agrees to the staff conditions and is continuing a phased refurbishment process. Commissioners expressed support for the proposal and the motion to approve the extension passed.
