North Las Vegas parks advisory board to meet quarterly, reduce membership to seven under council-approved bylaws

City staff presented approved bylaws updates that standardize advisory board operations across North Las Vegas and change how the Parks advisory board will operate. Doug Guile, director of parks and recreation, said the city council approved the changes on April 1, 2026, and that the board will transition from monthly to quarterly meetings in February, May, August and November beginning February 2027. He also said the board's size will move from nine seats to seven and that board officer elections will be held at the first meeting after July (August under the new schedule).
"The board will transition from meeting monthly to meeting quarterly," said Doug Guile, director of parks and recreation. "Each city council member, including the mayor, will select one representative, and then the mayor will select an additional two at large members... We recommend these changes go into effect February 2027." Board members asked questions about learning of the change after council action and expressed concerns about maintaining member engagement; staff recommended using the city's events calendar and periodic emails to keep members informed between quarterly meetings.
