The City Council of the City of Chariton convened on May 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. Council Member Jarrett McGee moved, and Council Member Cameron Storm seconded, to approve the meeting agenda; the roll call vote was Aye: Davis, Fenton, McGee, Shutt, Storm.
During the meeting the council discussed the Phase I Environmental Study for 738 Court Avenue (conducted by Seneca Companies, Inc.) and approved a motion, moved by Mayor Jayma Davis and seconded by Jarrett McGee, "to request an extension of the environmental study contingency to June 10, 2026, and to continue working with Seneca Companies, Inc. and Murray Company to obtain additional details and cost estimates." The council also approved two mayoral appointments: Dennis Reida to the Library Board (term to expire July 1, 2031) and Cody Evans to the Airport Committee (term to expire August 31, 2026). The meeting was adjourned at 5:37 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on June 1, 2026.
