Henry County accepts more than $500,000 in criminal-justice grants for FY27

The Henry County Board of Commissioners on June 16 approved a package of criminal-justice grants for fiscal year 2027 that county staff said totals more than $500,000 and requires no local match.
County Manager Kevin Johnson read the grant items on the consent agenda, listing amounts and programs: $94,554 for the DUI misdemeanor drug court; $47,942 for juvenile mental health and drug court; $121,824 for the adult felony drug court; $134,772 for the resource court program; $39,838 for the veterans treatment court program; and an additional $95,000 for drug abuse treatment and education. Johnson commented, "That is over $500,000 in grants that have no financial match from the county coming into our courts. Strong work." The consent agenda motion to accept the grants passed with board approval.
Board members publicly thanked staff and the accountability courts team for the work bringing the grants to the county. The board took the approvals as part of the consent agenda; there was no separate public hearing or amendment attached to the grant acceptances.
