Council highlights Juneteenth and Sounds at Sundown events

Councilmember Janae Butler introduced Tanya Johnson, treasurer of the Juneteenth Organization of Wylie, who invited the public to the organization's 7th annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration on June 13 at Old City Park in Wylie. "You're welcome to get a booth and just come out and hang with us," Johnson said, and Butler described the event's community programming and partnerships with the City of Wylie and the police department.
City staff also announced the Sounds at Sundown concert series kickoff on June 5 with Emerald City Band and reminded residents that City Hall will be closed on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. These items were informational and did not require council votes.
