The Midland Planning Commission approved the preliminary plat for the Encore Airfield Substation, a 6.711-acre parcel at the corner of Big Blue Avenue and South County Road 1250 submitted by Kimberly Horn.
Planner Angelina Betanini presented the item and told commissioners the property is currently zoned LI (light industrial), that surrounding uses are largely industrial and office, and that the proposed use is an electrical power substation (Encore). "It's gonna be an Encore substation. So just an electric power substation," the planner said. Commissioners clarified the intended use after a slide appeared to show unrelated content.
A motion to approve was made, seconded and recorded as passing unanimously. Staff recommended approval subject to conditions; no public testimony was recorded on the item.
