The Nye County School District Board approved several contract awards during its Feb. 19 meeting, including a $566,500 award to Southwest Mechanical for the Hafen HVAC replacement, a $77,214.45 contract to Affordable Striping and Sealing LLC for asphalt sealing at two schools, and a $73,910 award to Todd's Carpet and Tile Cleaning for district-wide summer cleaning. All motions passed 6–0.
The board also approved the purchase of wireless access points, network switches and uninterruptible power supplies from Arctiq for $258,515.31 to meet E-Rate Category Two hardware needs; the transcript states 85% of that cost is eligible for federal E-Rate reimbursement. Superintendent and facilities staff noted Arctiq’s acquisition of former competitors and that deal registration produced competitive Hewlett-Packard pricing through Arctiq. Board members approved the Arctiq purchase by unanimous vote.
