Commission approves small rezoning at Buck Island/Quarry Lane to allow an extra lot
Summary
Oldham County Planning Commission recommended rezoning roughly 0.74 acres from CO-1 to R-1 (PZ-26-017) to allow creation of an additional lot within a previously approved subdivision; staff said the change increases open space and aligns with the 2025 future land-use map. The recommendation and subsequent revised preliminary plan were approved by the commission, each recorded as 10–0 votes.

The commission considered Docket PZ-26-017, a request by K Properties LLC to rezone a roughly 0.74-acre portion of a larger 150-acre parcel from CO-1 (conservation) to R-1 (residential) to permit an additional lot within a previously approved subdivision. Staff planner John Hein apologized for a numerical correction during his presentation, noting the rezoned area is 0.74 acres (not 0.5) and said the request conforms to the county’s future land-use map for single-family subdivision.
Hein described the change as a minor reduction in lot size within the approved development that increases open space and preserves buffer distance between adjoining properties. Commissioners took roll-call and recommended the zoning map amendment to Oldham County Fiscal Court; the motion was recorded as passing 10–0. Staff noted that stormwater and erosion-control requirements under KYR-10 and standard traffic reviews will apply at construction-plan submittal.
