Students working on a placemaking assignment told a meeting that updating beaches and parks would help "bring everybody closer together" and described fieldwork intended to identify improvements for teens.
"Us being able to update all these beaches and parks, it'll give us a great opportunity to bring everybody closer together," Student (S2) said. Student (S3) added that the group "came out here to take pictures of the landscape, maybe see what we could do to expand and make it feel more enjoyable to the teens out here."
Student (S4) said the students plan to present their projects "to the government of Hampton" and hoped the presentation would persuade officials to act. Student (S5) closed by saying the finished work "will be amazing" and expressed hope the program could run again next year.
The students’ proposals will be reviewed by city staff, who will tell participants what elements are feasible and the likely timelines for any work.
