West Milton staff to pursue cybersecurity plan after Ohio's HB 96 mandates municipal compliance

Staff alerted council that Ohio House Bill 96 obligates jurisdictions to have a cybersecurity plan and that the village is working with its IT contractor to determine vendor needs. "It was intended to protect communities, government agencies from ... outside parties messing with our infrastructure," Kyle said, stressing the statutory obligation and operational importance.
Staff indicated an initial estimate for developing the plan was about $5,000 if done earlier in the year but that costs could change; staff will return with a resolution seeking authority to enter an agreement with a vendor to implement the cybersecurity plan required under HB 96.
