Kirk Bradfrey, chair of the World Economic Development Advisory Board, presented the first Riley County Ruralpreneur recognition award to Sarah and Andy Larson for their locally branded beef and flower businesses. Bradfrey described the award’s origin in the county comprehensive plan’s rural economic development chapter and praised staff, specifically Molly, for helping implement the recognition program.
Andy Larson (S15) described his family’s long history in the county, noting multi-generational ties to ranching. Sarah Larson (S17) explained the marketing and retail efforts that expanded the operation from a small start into a storefront and online business. Both recipients thanked the board for the recognition and spoke about plans for modest future expansion and continued local sourcing.
