Assistant County Counselor Michael Hawthorne opened a public hearing on assessments for the Peterson Ranch Road Benefit District and presented staff materials showing the project’s cost and assessment structure. Hawthorne reported the project total as "$390,408.37 assessed across 18 properties within the benefit district," and read the per‑property assessment figures as part of the public record. He told the board the resolution includes a prepayment deadline of Aug. 28, 2026 to allow property owners to pay off assessments before interest accrues.
Developer Lynn Blickett (public commenter) spoke in favor of the resolution but urged more transparent and consistent communication in the petition and assessment process, saying earlier discussions did not clearly state proposed assessment terms or durations. After the public comment period, a commissioner moved and the board voted to approve the resolution establishing the special assessments for the Peterson Ranch benefit district for a 10‑year repayment term.
The board’s formal action closed the public hearing and authorized staff to finalize assessment documentation and signatures. Michael Hawthorne and county staff noted that modifying the repayment term would change actual costs and assessments and could require additional processing time.
