Charter committee members push to meet more often, staff to propose dates

Several committee members urged meeting more than the statutory minimum in order to have time to develop charter recommendations. Crystal Hunsaker (speaker 8) and others said meeting only once a year leaves little time to prepare or move recommendations to city council.
Zach Gukher, Director of Government Affairs (speaker 10), and Deputy City Attorney Adrian Viesca (speaker 9) clarified the statutory minimum (one meeting per year before the legislature) but said the chair may call special meetings and the committee can meet more often if it chooses. Staff will follow up and propose dates; members were asked to review the charter and suggest agenda items for any additional meetings.
