Board awards Jonesboro Road resurfacing contract; federal funds cover 80%

On July 7 the Henry County Board of Commissioners approved awarding the Jonesboro Road resurfacing contract (I-75 to Rosebud Lane) to E.R. Snell Contractors for $3,150,801.
SPLOST staff said the project was selected for federal transportation funds and that the project funding plan calls for 80% federal reimbursement ($2,520,640.80) and a 20% local match of $630,160.20. Bids closed June 12 and staff said E.R. Snell submitted the lowest responsive bid of $3,150,801.
The board moved and approved the award during the meeting. Commissioners noted the resurfacing work aligns with other widening and roadway projects in the county and thanked staff for coordinating federal grant applications and project scheduling. Staff indicated work is expected to begin this fall and will be managed to align with other nearby road projects.
