"I am honored and privileged to serve as your reelected chair for this committee," Melvin King said after the vote. The committee then elected Esmeralda Villeda as vice chair by voice vote. The meeting also approved the agenda and the consent minutes for June 24, 2024, by voice votes.
The elections were procedural actions taken at the start of the committee's work for the year; the newly chosen officers will lead any future meetings and help schedule additional sessions if the committee opts to meet more often. The committee heard staff presentations on statutory responsibilities and notified members that staff from government affairs and the city attorney's office will assist with follow-up scheduling and administrative support.
